THE IV GRAND SEVASTOPOL CHARITY OFFICERS’ BALL “A HERO OF OUR TIME” JUNE 11, 2017
The ball took place on June 11, traditionally in the open air, in a legendary historical place - the Mikhailovskaya Battery Square. The annual Ball, the hallmark of Sevastopol, again hosted guests and couples from all over Russia. 100 civilian and 100 officers’ couples took part in it. Alongside officers of the Black Sea Fleet, couples representing the Northern, the Pacific Fleets and the Caspian Flotilla also attended the Ball. The most touching moment of the evening was the "Crew" symphony dedicated to The Aleksandrov Ensemble of the Russian Army and its artistic director, the main military conductor of the Russian Federation, V. M. Khalilov. Their lives ended in the crash of TU-154 on the 25th of December 2016.
The symphony, which was presented for the first time, was written specifically for the Grand Sevastopol Charity Officers’ Ball by the modern composer Ilya Demutsky.
